How to Support Notes to the End When Learning to Sing Better

You are ready to sing you favorite song! It goes "I love you baby, I love your hair, I love your voice I love your zfftrt…." What did you just say????!!! Nobody knows! This will probably get you more slapping than romance! That's what happens when you don't support the notes to the end! The whole idea gets absolutely lost and your singing dies away instead of leaving the amazing impression it seemed it would when it started!

Don't worry! It's not just you! This happens more often than one would think!

Supporting Notes is absolutely essential, and it's really easy to do once you've understood what it's about.

Let's get to work.

When you start singing you feel you need power to introduce the song and make it interesting, but sometimes, when ending your song or your phrases, you seem to forget the ending is also saying something and nothing worse to finish something giving the sensation of lack of interest! You will transmit this lack of interest to the person listening and they will end up having a lack of interest themselves!

This is why, when singing, you should make sure you are following your notes up to their very end, letting them go, but accompanying them to the very last moment.

You must never just “throw” your words out ( this meaning also the notes you are using for saying them) and just let them fall by themselves after you've let them out. You can't consider your singing well done until the whole message is out and it's reached somewhere, this can be your audience or even your own ears. You should be able to transmit your whole idea, and for this you must get completely used to supporting the notes to the end when learning how to sing better.

And something else which is equally important is proper breathing. Since your voice is produce when the air you let out makes your vocal cords vibrate, a great part of the “support” needed for singing is in breath itself. Singers usually use “Diaphragmatic breathing” for singing and for their life in general, once they know how to handle it and understand it's benefits.

Meanwhile, we'll give you a first view on what it is about. What you do in this type of breathing is to train your diaphragm to handle the air. If your body knows how to control the air coming in and out, you can be certain you will be a huge step closer to learning how to support notes to the end, since you will be able to let the right amount of air go and keep the amount necessary to finish your phrases with no breath shortage. Running out of breath and distraction are the main issues that will stop you from supporting the notes but once you are over those simple points… you are done!

Well we are done and we hope it has been useful. But this is just starting! Make sure you check out our highly recommended courses below, and find more detailed instruction on becoming an amazing singer!
