Singing Lessons for beginners
Want to start singing? Well, good timing then for finding this Singing lessons for beginners . We'll try to give you the basic tips you should work on to become a better singer. There is a lot to know about singing and become a successful singer.
It would be hard to give you detailed lessons in one article, so we'll give you steps to follow, always try to research more about them (we also recommend Singing Success for doing so), and a few basic vocalizations.
Make sure your body is ready for singing by relaxing before you start .
- Move your mouth and open it up as much as you can to loosen your jaw muscles so that you can sing comfortably.
- Draw circles with your head in order to stretch your neck
- Move your shoulders forward and backwards, also drawing circles.
- Shake your legs to make sure your knees aren't tight.
Always warm up
There are many exercises for warming up, and it's very important to do so. Make sure you learn more about this on our specific warm up articles.
- Leaving your mouth closed but loose, say “hmmmmm” making the note last as much as you can. Feel the sound tickle your lips when it pushes them softly.
- Making sure your lips are still loose move your lips with a “brbrbbrr” sound, as if you were blowing bubbles under the water.
Use your abdominal muscles to handle the air you breathe
- Imagine your stomach is a balloon
- Inhale taking the air straight to the balloon
- Exhale pushing the air up using your abdominal muscles
Continue working on this breathing technique and using it whenever you are singing from now on.
Prepare your mouth for working
- Sing all vowels putting an “m” before them: “Ma, me, mi, mo, mu”. The “m” will help you place the sound in the right place.
- Open your mouth as much as you can when singing the vowels. With the sound placed, just let it out through a big open mouth!
Sing your favorite song applying all you've learnt
- Use abdominal breathing
- Give it a first try pronouncing the vowels on the song like we did on the exercise
- Now that your mouth is ready to open up enough for this specific song, measure how open you want it to be for it to sound better, you will probably notice you are opening up a little bit more now an the song sounds better!
I bet this singing lesson has already made a huge difference!
